Julien Doré rose to attention in 2007 as the winner of the television talent contest Nouvelle Star. Wielding a folk-tinged, alternative pop/rock sound and a rough yet sensitive style, the French artist captivated a national audience as he dominated each round of the competition. After finishing the show in first place, Doré signed to Sony BMG and released his debut full-length album Ersatz, in 2008. Reaching an international audience for the first time, he took his time on various headlining tours before dropping his 2011 sophomore effort, Bichon.
