The Interfaith Community Breakfast is an annual event sponsored by Interfaith Grand River, bringing together community members who represent the many faith traditions of Waterloo Region, as well as other civic and community leaders. It is an opportunity to celebrate and affirm our commitment to the richness and diversity of our multi-faith, multi-cultural community.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 45th Interfaith Community Breakfast will take place in 2021. An alternative event will be planned for later this year. Event date and ticket information for the 2021 event are subject to change.

The keynote speaker for the 2020 event was to be Sarah Pearson (http://www.sarahpearson.ca/), a psychotherapist, musician/songwriter, educator/facilitator, health care professional, arts advocate, community organizer, and freelance writer. Sarah has entitled her comments,The Day Begins at Sundown: a Jewish Reflection on Hope.

In the Jewish tradition, the start of the day is counted at sundown, and the year begins at summers end. What can this teach us about finding meaning in times of darkness and despair? Sarah suggests that we can draw on this theological concept to make sense of life in this age of environmental and humanitarian crises. She asks: How did we get here? And, weaving together anecdotes from her secular Jewish background with reflections on current community issues, Sarah will make a case for the value of looking back at where weve come from in order to find a way forward.

Look for an announcement about our alternative event later in 2020, where Sarah will be asked to share her comments.
