This celebration marks the anniversary of the declaration of the State of Israel in 1948. The festival starts as soon as Yom Hazikaron ends in the evening. The switch between the two festivals is marked by a candle-lighting ceremony, which is televised. The official ceremony is held on Mount Herzl, but the rest of the night is celebrated with fireworks, street parties and outdoor Israeli dancing. Expect to be sprayed with shaving foam and silly string if you are in the downtown area (near Ben Yehuda and Jaffa Streets).
While we do our best to ensure the accuracy of our listings, events may be postponed or cancelled without notice. Please confirm with the organizer before making any plans.
