Since he emerged onto the music scene in 1997 as one half of Detroit-based garage rock duo The White Stripes, Jack White has proven himself as an immensely skilled guitarist, producer, drummer, songwriter, and one-man act. Best known for his role in The White Stripes, White has also been a member of The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather, two groups with a shared affinity for blues-based alternative rock. As a guitarist, Jack sets himself apart with a distinctive playing style that places emphasis on feel and tone over dexterity. Though many view Jack as a singular entity whose guitar prowess turns projects into memorable musical endeavors, he didn't launch a solo career until 2012 with the release of Blunderbuss.
