JD McPherson is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma who is known for his characteristic 1950s-influenced, rockabilly music. Learning how to play the guitar at the age of 13, McPherson would go on to play in a number of local punk rock outfits, while also discovering and developing a strong interest in mid-century rock sounds after being exposed to the music of Buddy Holly. Releasing his debut album, Signs and Signifiers, in 2010 with his band, McPherson would go on to demonstrate his knack for songwriting and his ability to breath life into a style of music that many consider dead.
