Though William Shatner is probably best known for his role as Captain James Tiberius Kirk in the cult 1960s science fiction television show Star Trek, he has also managed to moonlight as a musician and amass a fairly sizable underground following. Oftentimes receiving more mock praise than genuine appreciation for his musical endeavors, Shatner has nevertheless remained a steadfast figure in the face of flippantly mean spirited judgement of his songs and is virtually impervious to harsh criticism. Shatner released his debut album, The Transformed Man, in 1968 and has sporadically released recorded studio material every so often sense then. Shatner's style typically finds him singing in a mono-syllabic vocal phrasing other well-known musician's songs like Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man," The Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and Sting's "Walking on the Moon."
