Eventing Competition at Percy Warner Park in NashvilleThere are two different payments you will make for a competition- one that is paid to Panther Creek, and one that is paid to the host of the competition. The cost paid to the host will vary depending on who is hosting. Generally the Host charges a grounds fee, and a fee per class entered.Costs to Panther Creek are as follows:Trainer Fee: $40Horse Rental: $50Friday Night Prep: $10 (this fee is for students who need an instructor’s help with bathing and getting ready the night before)Mileage: $1/mile (split among everyone in the trailer)Ticket price includes trainer fee, Friday night prep, and horse rental fee. Trailer mileage at $1/mile will be calculated upon returning from the competition and split among those riding in the PCS trailer.Cancellation Policy:Please note, if the competition is being held, we will be attending regardless of weather. Most competitions we attend are under a covered arena, so rain is not an issue. Be sure to check the weather and dress appropriately for heat or cold. If you are signed up to compete and decide not to go for any reason, less than one week before the competition, you will owe ½ of the costs to Panther CreekIf the competition is cancelled for any reason you will not owe anythingScheduleI’ve decided to attend a competition! What will the day look like?Students who attend or compete in a competition are expected to participate in every aspect, from getting their horse ready before the show, to taking care of it when they get home.Night BeforeStudents will be given a time frame by their instructor to help with prep the night before the competition. Before the morning of the competition, students are expected to:- Bathe horse- Put horse in a stall with hay and water- Clean tack- Load the trailerThis takes about an hour to an hour and a halfMorning of CompetitionStudents will arrive in the morning of the competition dressed and ready to go! They will be expected to clean their horses stall, feed him breakfast (if applicable), groom their horse and load it on the trailer.During the CompetitionStudents will unload horses upon arrival. We will then go in together to get signed up and then head back to the trailer to get horses tacked and ready. Students will then get their horses properly warmed up in the arena. Students will remain with their horse in the area designated for competitors during their events. If they are not competing in current events then with the instructors help they can leave horses tied at the trailer or designated area and wait in the stands with parents.Students are responsible for ensuring their horses are being offered and drinking plenty of water. Keeping track of how much the horse is drinking. While waiting to compete students should observe proper safety precautions:-They may sit on their horse with feet properly in stirrups and a hand on the reins.-If needing to get off of horse students may tie horse in area designated and approved by instructor; students must maintain a safe distance from horse while tied. After the CompetitionWhen students return to Panther Creek after the competition they will take care of their horse and unload the trailer. Students are asked not to leave until their instructor gives the all clear! Remember: we are a team. All done or none done!
