Lamb of God is a heavy metal band that emerged out of Richmond, Virginia in 1994 during the new wave of American metal. Originally known as Burn the Priest, the band released an eponymous album in 1999 before changing its name and dropping its debut LP as Lamb of God, New American Gospel, in 2000. With a fusion of metalcore and groove metal sounds, the band owns a crossover appeal that has earned it a following among hardcore punk fans in addition to its solid fan base among metal audiences.
