Hockey is probably the most popular sport in the Northeastern United States and this club has been playing it since 1926. Then known as the Providence Reds, today's Wolf Pack has changed names and locales many times over its long history, but it remains one of the oldest, continuously operating minor-league franchises in the country. The club plays is the top-affiliate of the NHL's New York Rangers and it plays games at the 15,600 seat XL Center. While in the AHL, the club has won only one Calder Cup, during the 1999-2000 season.
