Shakespeare's classic The Winter's Tale centers around the King of Sicily and his misplaced jealousy that leads to the death of his son and abandonment of his daughter. Surrounded by a shroud of oracles, gods and magic, the play is reminiscent of Greek tragedies but is still relevant in modern times for its implications of the power of forgiveness. Though the first three acts of The Winter's Tale follow patterns of a tragedy, the production is considered a comedy for its unexpected conclusion.
