Paul Hartmut Würdig is better known under his pseudonym Sido, standing for "superintelligentes Drogenopfer" (Super Intelligent Drug Victim). With that name, he started his career as a rap musician in 1997, becoming one of the Germany's bestselling rap artists. Being brought up in Berlin Märkisches Viertel, a part of West Berlin with a high proportion of migrants and low-income families, his style referred strongly to American gangsta rap. By that time, his identifying feature was a silver mask that he would always wear, letting no one know what he actually looked like. With his major success in the last 8 years, his style changed, becoming more grown up and settled, and he ultimately decided take off his mask.
