Orange County band Stryper may be the most revered Christian glam rock band in American history. Starting in 1983, Stryper made a name for themselves combining the hair metal and glam with Christian ideas and values. Since releasing its debut album Yellow & Black Attack, in 1984, the band has gone on to release ten albums over the next three decades, including 2013's Second Coming, despite taking a decade-long hiatus between 1992 and 2003. Stryper is now recognized as the first openly Christian outfit in the heavy metal genre, with its faith the forefront of all of its endeavors.
