The Winterfest Boat Parade is one event you want to arrive at early because it gets really crowded. Hundreds of boats of all sizes compete for awards in this traditional festival that begins in downtown Fort Lauderdale near the Historic Stranahan House Museum and goes north along the Intracoastal Waterway to Pompano Beach. Make your waterway hotel or restaurant reservations, many months in advance. There are other viewing areas along bridges that will be closed to traffic.
