Emily Dickinson once wrote, "'If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry." The seventh annual edition of this fest sets out to achieve that blown mind-set with more than 75 literary organizations and 250 poets on its three main stages both indoors and under a beautiful canopy of trees at Nolan Park on Governor's Island. There's also a vendor's village, art installations, a beer garden, food carts, a children's area, a film fest, and plenty of opportunity to express oneself, including the famed Ring of Daisies open mic, and Sapphire, Deborah Landau, Aja Monet and Patrick Phillips are this year's featured poets. The festival is free to the public, but general admission tickets include two servings of beer or wine.
