For 38 years, Grammy-winning saxophonist Paul Winter has been bringing together a bevy of talented multicultural artists in the breathtaking setting of New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine to recreate an ancient winter-solstice celebration for the modern age. Gospel singer Theresa Thomason, the ten-member jazz-world music ensemble the Paul Winter Consort, as well as 25 dancers and drummers of the Forces of Nature Dance Theatre, and special guests, the 15-member Pletenitsa Balkan Choir are set to perform in the 2017 edition, filled with festive music and dance. The "The New York Times" calls this spectacular salute to the longest night of the year, "An immersive, multimedia extravaganza, as grand and expansive as its location."
