Mischa Maisky is a cellist from Riga, Latvia who began his career in the 1960s as one of the more promising up-and-coming cellists touring the Soviet Union. Since emigrating from the Soviet Union to Israel in the 1970s, Maisky quickly became one of the western world's leading concert cellists, earning the respect and friendship of several renowned musicians throughout Europe and the Americas. For over a quarter century, Mischa Maisky has been performing with some of the world's greatest orchestras, as well as keeping busy in the studio with over 50 critically acclaimed recordings released to his name.
