Striezelmarkt is the oldest market of its kind in the country. Every November and December, adults and kids throng the Christmas market in search of presents, decorations and other festive fare. The main attractions are the giant Christmas cake, an enormous Christmas tree and a huge advent calendar. Of course, Father Christmas is also there to entertain the little ones while mum and dad enjoy a cup of steaming glühwein. As well as a great selection of Christmas cakes such as the traditional Dresden stollen, there is a huge choice of tasty festive treats such as plum toffee.
