Glamorgan County Cricket Club began its journey in the game in 1888. During the early decades of its existence, the club flaunted its minor status and played in the Minor Counties Championship. Then in 1921, it made its debut in the County Championship as the representing team of Glamorgan county. It received its first-class status the same year and it has maintained it ever since. It has been the winner of the County Championship many times and has also added other achievements to its credit. It is also known for its impressive performances at international matches. Many great players like Matthew Maynard, Alan Jones and Michael Hogan have been in the club’s roster. It plays its home games at the Sophia Gardens cricket ground.
