In his 45-plus-year-long career, French vocalist Michel Sardou has become an icon in his own right. An impassioned voice for political and cultural issues, Sardou has paved the way for a rich career as a national pop icon. He has produced a long parade of singles, beginning in 1965, which have experienced mixed success on the charts and French media circuits. His original voice and advocacy for his personal beliefs have also gotten him in trouble with mainstream circuits, causing him to create his own record label, Tréma, in 1969. Through Tréma, he has worked with a solid and dedicated handful of composers over the years to continue to turn out relevant and beautiful music.
