Based on the 1968 film of the same name, Mel Brooks' The Producers follows the fate of a has-been Broadway producer and disgruntled accountant who scheme to make money by creating an unsuccessful show. Set in 1959, hilarity ensues as the producers attempt to hire the worst director and actors they can find to realize a script that romanticizes Hitler and Nazi Germany. Naturally, the scheme doesn't go entirely as planned.
