Based on the popular 1987 film starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, Dirty Dancing the musical brings the coming-of-age story from the big screen to the stage. Often referred to as Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage, the production tells the tale of Frances "Baby" Houseman a young woman who visits a resort with her family and falls in love with the smooth dance instructor Johnny Castle. While Johnny teaches Frances how to dance, tension between her rich family and the locals at the resort begin to rise. Frances also begins to dive deeper and deeper into Johnny's convoluted life. In addition to the film's well-known tunes "The Time of My Life" and "Hungry Eyes," Dirty Dancing includes more musical numbers that were originally turned down in the film version.
