As a member of the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame, Delbert McClinton is a part of the state's long and storied musical heritage. His style combines roots music with a variety of popular genres, covering the spectrum from blues and rock and roll, to soul and country. Before taking up the guitar, McClinton acted as a prominent harmonica player, backing up legends such as Howlin' Wolf and Jimmy Reed live on stage. A move to Los Angeles in the early 1970s saw him establish himself as a guitar player, a lead singer and a formidable songwriter, scoring hit albums on the blues and country charts throughout the decade. Now into his 70s, McClinton has remained an important roots musician and has been rewarded with a 2006 Grammy Award and well-attended performances throughout the US.
