Jon McLaughlin is a pop/rock musician from Anderson, IN who became a local celebrity after he released his independent album Up Until Now, while attending Anderson University in 2003. He was the first artist to sign with his school's label, Orangehaus Records, which released his self-titled album in 2004. The album earned him a solid fan base in his home state and around the Midwest after he toured the area. After extending the tour to the rest of the country, McLaughlin signed with Island Records and his jazz-inspired piano and guitar was well received by the music industry and mainstream audiences around the US. His contribution to the 2007 Oscar nominated film Enchanted, earned him his own Oscar nomination and a performance spot at the 80th Academy Awards. In 2011, McLaughlin released his third studio album with Island Records Forever If Ever, which preceded his fall tour of North America.
