Ben Watt is singer/songwriter, musician, DJ and producer who rose to recognition as one-half of the new wave duo Everything but the Girl. Born to a jazz musician and an entertainment journalist, the London-based artist grew up surrounded by music and an inside perspective of the media, giving him a rounded understanding of the industry. After making his debut with the folk-jazz album North Marine Drive, he teamed up with vocalist Tracey Thorn to form Everything but the Girl, and went on to write music with the outfit for the better part of the next two decades. Just before the duo split in 2000, Watt began to establish himself in London's deep house club scene. Beyond making a name for himself with his own compositions, he distinguished himself as a champion of the national EDM community through his imprint, Buzzin' Fly. With the label as a platform, he spawned the sister label Strange Feeling Records and eventually opened his own night clubs, Neighbourhood and Cherry Jam, in West London.
