Boz Scaggs transitioned from singing rocking blues music with longtime friend Steve Miller to performing what radio would call "middle of the road" music. He released his first album Boz in 1965 but didn't make any noise on the charts until his 1976 release Silk Degrees, recorded with a backing band that would later go on to its own success as Toto. Scaggs took a break from the music industry altogether for a little while in the 1980s and since his return primarily sticks to performing his old hits and classic jazz standards.
