An overwhelming majority of drummers bang away on their skins and cymbals without contemplating how their playing will affect the other instrumentalists they're playing with. Luckily there are drummers like Ari Hoenig who are keen to actually listen to what the other musicians on stage are doing and play accordingly. Though Hoenig is considered a jazz drummer, he's played with a wide swath of musicians and can adapt to nearly ever genre. His live rhythmic flourishes are extremely poignant and a concert featuring Mr. Hoenig is a spectacle not to be missed.
