The Nightingales is a post punk band from Birmingham that formed in 1979 with the original lineup of vocalist Robert Lloyd, guitarist Joe Crow, bassist Eamonn Duffy and drummer Paul Apperley. After a successful stint colored with several lineup changes and three studio albums, the band broke up in 1986 to pursue other projects. The Nightingales reformed in 2004 with three of its original members Lloyd, Apperley and Duffy. The band re-released its first three albums before dropping its first new album in twenty years, Out of True, in 2006. The Nightingales have since played some of the largest festivals in the world, including South by Southwest in 2005 and Glastonbury in 2009.
