From England's West Country, The Wurzels is a oom-pah band most famous for its number on hit, "Combine Harvester." Originally known as Adge Cutler and the Wurzels, the band changed its name after the death of its front-man and songwriter Adge Cutler, in 1974. The Wurzels continue to play music in the same fashion and manner of scrumpy western, a term coined from the band's 1967 release Scrumpy & Western EP, that Culter intended. Since 1966, the band's music has reflected the member's roots in West Country, particularly village life, industrial work, and cider making and drinking, all with a humorous approach to its culture. The Wurzel's hit single, "I Am A Cider Drinker," from 1979 landed at number three on the UK Charts and was the band's last big hit before a sparse twenty-year period. The 2000s proved to be a fruitful decade for The Wurzels as the band released nine albums in ten years, bringing it's scrumpy western humor to a new generation.
