Miss Julie (translated from the Swedish Fröken Julie) is a play written by Swedish playwright August Strindberg in 1888, and stands as one of Sweden's most famous naturalistic play. Using the tenets of European naturalism, which is to attempt to perfectly recreate real life on stage, Miss Julie deals with issues of class, love, lust and the battle of the sexes, particularly in how these concepts and issues interact in day to day life. The play has since been adapted and performed countless times on stages throughout the world, as well as on film and television in several different languages.
