Though Baltimore-based band Lower Dens has been a fixture of the indie folk scene since forming in 2010, the group only really started to receive critical laudation after releasing its 2015 LP, Escape from Evil. Originally starting as the solo project of chief singer/songwriter Jana Hunter, it took a few years for Lower Dens to arrive with its characteristic sound that has consistently been evolving. The years spent under the radar undoubtedly helped the group foster itself, though, and grow into a band with a collaborative vision.
