Based on the 1915 novel and Alfred Hitchcock film of the same name, The 39 Steps is a comedic play that follows the story an average man named Richard Hannay. His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets an undercover spy, and he soon finds himself running from the police and attempting to solve a mysterious crime. With a cast of a handful of actors meant to play several different parts, The 39 Steps is a comedy thriller meant to turn the serious spy adventure of the 1935 film into a playful story filled with puns and allusions to other Hitchcock films including Rear Window and Psycho.
