Barclay Performing Arts presents "La Cage aux Folles"! Come and be a part of our professional series with a live band on stage! "La Cage" is a Tony-Award winning musical by Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein. This French play centers on the story of a gay couple who must pretend to be straight for one night (with one of the men in drag) to dupe the very conservative political family of their son's fiancee. "La Cage" opened on Broadway in 1983 it broke barriers for gay representation becoming one of the first Broadway Hit Musicals centered on a queer relationship. At Barclay, we give a voice to those who can not speak for themselves, and through "La Cage aux Folles" we rip off the mask and put on the lipstick, because at the end of the night "we are what we are."
