Debbie Harry is a singer/songwriter and actress who evolved into an American icon as the lead singer of the pioneering new wave band Blondie. After establishing herself as a punk singer, she formed Blondie with Chris Stein and quickly became synonymous with the band's moniker for her two-tone bleached-blonde hair and street style. Beginning in 1981, between forging new wave with her band, Harry launched her solo career with the release of her debut album, KooKoo. She has since continued to release her own material as well as new records with Blondie, while also maintaining an acting career.
