Anna Karenina is stage production adapted from Russian realist Leo Tolstoy's novel of the same name. Considered by many to be the greatest novel ever written, the story has been adapted for the stage as well as the big screen various times in an attempt to do the bring Tolstoy's pantheon of complex characters to life. At its core, Anna Karenina examines the often complicated and hidden psychology of the 19th Century Russian society, particularly that of aristocratic women such as Anna Karenina, who finds herself trapped in a loveless arranged marriage.
