Although jazz is not a particularly "German" phenomenon, the country and Berlin especially, are a haven for jazz lovers. The highlight of Berlin's jazz scene is the annual Jazzfest, which attracts some of the biggest names in the business. Over the years, the focus has shifted away from the big American names, but a handful of renowned Americans still perform at the fest. A number of experimental and also world music groups, from Klezmer quintets to acid jazz, have been added to the roster. Concerts take place at various venues throughout Berlin; in past years venues have included Berliner Festspiele, A-Trane and Quasimodo, among others.
