Death of a Salesman is a play by American playwright Arthur Miller, and a canonical work of 20th-century western theater. In the play, Arthur Miller applies principles of Aristotelian tragedy to the life of an ordinary individual, chronicling the delusions and breakdown of the traveling salesman, Willy Loman. Miller's play earned numerous awards after its Broadway premier in 1949, including the Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
