Graham Nash is a
singer/songwriter from Salford, England who launched his career as co-founder
of the popular English pop band The Hollies in 1962. Nash’s keen sense of
melodic sensibility and vocal harmony would go on to help the group become an successful
act on both sides of the Atlantic. After leaving the band in 1968, Nash moved
to Southern California and helped form the seminal folk band Crosby, Stills and
Nash—eventually growing into Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young after Neil Young
joined the group in 1970. In addition to helping the band pioneer a unique
sound that defined a generation, Nash would also launch his well received solo
career, starting in 1971 with his debut LP, Songs for Beginners. Though Nash’s
popularity has ebbed substantially since his heyday, he continues to tour
fairly regularly and because of his involvement in some of rock and folk’s more
influential groups, he is looked at as somewhat of an elder statesman of music.
