Shortly after forming in Santa Cruz, California in 1987, the band Swingin Utters established itself as a punk band that wasn't afraid to incorporate elements of country and rockabilly music into its sound. Feeling the constraints of the relatively small coastal community of Santa Cruz, the group moved to San Francisco and started playing a large number of shows, in an attempt to build a solid fan-base in its new found home. Though the group has never achieved any sort of massive success, or mainstream appeal for that matter, the group has stuck to its guns and it continues to crank out country influenced punk music.
