Lucky Luna came together in Beacon, NY around the stellar vocals of singer-songwriter Laurie Clark. Bringing a fresh musical back-up to the band are Tony Acquisto and Jim Cardinal, both delivering shimmering guitars and vocals. Through their shared interest in all types of music, Lucky Luna have created an original sound spanning several decades and musical genres revisited in a fresh and unique way. They share the common belief that a good song is a good song, no matter what the genre - and that it’s interesting to see these songs performed in a variety of ways.
Guitarist, bagpiper and songwriter Tony Acquisto, a Hudson Valley native, has played and recorded in many original rock bands in the Tri-State area. After moving from Manhattan to Beacon in 2001, Tony first focused on jazz guitar, playing in the jazz duet T & T with guitarist Tom Baldino. Primarily a rock guitarist, he agreed to try something new with Jim and Laurie. Tony’s musical history with Laurie actually goes back to when they shared stages double-billing in separate bands years ago.
Guitarist, songwriter and singer Jim Cardinal, originally from Trumbull, CT, has played, recorded and toured with numerous bands throughout the country. He spent time building and running recording studios in San Francisco, Nashville, the Twin Cities and Beacon. His original songs blend pop and rock, sometimes with a hint of country and blues and have been recognized for their universal relevance.
Singer, songwriter and keyboard-player Laurie Clark, also a native of the Hudson Valley, has recorded and performed with original rock bands in both the Hudson Valley and NYC as both a lead and backing vocalist. She started singing as a child with her older brothers, who each had their own bands. She learned to appreciate all types of music - from rock to Celtic to classical - from listening her family’s extensive and varied record collections. She appreciates the artistry involved in making words and music work together - and tries to convey the beauty and meaning of each song intelligibly when she sings.
