Jacob and David Bernz hail from Beacon, where roots music has found a welcome home in the Hudson Valley. David is a two-time Grammy-winning producer for Pete Seeger and a longtime Hudson Valley performing artist. His son Jacob is one of the Valleys most prolific songwriters, whose high, honest tenor has captivated audiences from the start he is now working on his fifth CD of all original material.

After thriving as a sideman musician in the New York City music scene for several years, writer, guitarist and vocalist Andy Stack heeded that call and headed north on a whim to the Hudson Valley and founded the group Buffalo Stack. It was in this mountainous region of the state where Andy’s own voice began to blossom free from the hustle of the NYC lifestyle, but with the musical prowess formed in the crucible of the big city scene. Within six months he had written a full album’s worth of original roots/rock/Americana music, bringing together some of the finest musicians and singers from the valley.

Steve Kirkman, one of our Open Mic Night hosts, cut his teeth as a songwriter riding the fringes of Nashville’s underground music scene and playing the unlimited number of writers’ nights in and around the city. From there his journeys led to Beale Street in Memphis, then to Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, New Orleans and several of the Northeastern states. While living in NYC he formed a band called the Mystery Train and playing the top clubs in the area. He now lives in Putnam County. He has collaborated with Fred Gillen Jr. and Jeff Eyrich, among others.
