One of the state's biggest agricultural events, the Maryland State Fair showcases livestock, horses and farm products. It's more than a farm fair, however. Horse-racing, crafts, food, midway rides and games help attract hundreds of thousands of people each year. The event includes agricultural and livestock demonstrations, as well as horse shows and live entertainment. The fair begins in late August and runs through to early September. Event schedules vary and are held at various venues throughout the fairgrounds. Ride tickets are available at the fairgrounds for a nominal fee or purchased in bulk at a discount.
