The Albany Great Danes represent the University of Albany, SUNY in NCAA's Division I America East Conference. The school was established in 1844 and the intercollegiate athletic programs have existed almost as long. Tennis has the longest tenure dating back more than century, as it started in 1898. Today's teams include men's baseball, basketball, cross country, football, lacrosse, soccer and track, while the women compete within field hockey, cross country, soccer, basketball, golf, lacrosse, softball, tennis, track and volleyball. The Great Danes have garnered quite a few conference titles throughout their history; most notable accomplishments include titles in track and field, where both the men and women's teams have dominated, the former has won eleven straight championships (2005-15) and the latter, seven straight championships (2007-15).
