Can't stand Sunday meal prepping? Let's make it fun!! No more boring chicken and broccoli for lunch. According to Ayruveda we should be enjoying alllll the tastiness in the form of 6 tastes in every single meal in order to satisfy your cravings. Let's make a lunch you look forward to eating!

¤¤¤ 10 a.m. Meet at Farmer's Market and Bizarre under 83 at the Zeke's coffee stand.

Parking instructions below. If you have trouble finding us my cell is 4434659135

You will receive a shopping list to cover all of the six tastes - sweet, salty, sour, pungent, astringent and bitter. Produce is a bit limited at this time of year but let's get creative with what we can find fresh and local! We will have a bunch of pre-prepared grains and other items that are not available at the market ready for us at the Ukranian hall.

¤¤¤ 11 a.m. Depart for the Ukranian Hall. 2305 Eastern Ave (corner of Patterson and Eastern Ave)

We will cook and prepare our six taste bowls while sipping mimosas, herbal teas and coffee. Tupperware is provided or feel free to bring your own. You can doctor up your bowls a little different for each day of the week to keep it interesting. We will also make a few different sauces you can use as dressings and keep in the fridge for a couple of weeks.

¤¤¤ 1 p.m. For lunch I think it would be fun to do a little sample tasting of what everyone came up with based on the recipes provided and your own creativity!

p.s. plan to have breakfast before the event or grab something yummy at the market!

This event will be capped at 20 people to ensure enough space for everyone!

°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°In this class you will learn what the six tastes are and what category commonly found foods are in. There is a reason you crave sweets!!! It is a necessary taste and there are healthy versions such as quinoa and sweet potato that will satisfy those cravings.

According to Ayruveda there are 6 tastes that should be a part of every meal to keep you satisfied and your cells nourished. Taste in Sanskrit "Rasa" is the essence of life and quite literally affects every aspect of our beingfrom structure and physiology, straight through to our overall state of mind and consciousness. Ayurveda sees taste as a tremendously powerful therapeutic tool that determines not only how we experience our food, but ultimately, the overall flavor of our existence. Taste is assigned a much deeper significance in Ayurveda than we are accustomed to in the West; it is considered critically important in determining the effect that various foods, spices, therapeutic herbs, and experiences will have on our state of balancebody, mind, and spirit.

The six tastes in Ayurveda are as follows: Sweet, Salty, Sour, Pungent, Astringent, and Bitter.

To balance Vata: Include more sweet, sour, and salty tastes.Decrease bitter, pungent and astringent tastes.

To balance Pitta: Include more sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes.Decrease sour, salty, and pungent tastes.

To balance Kapha: Include more bitter, pungent, and astringent tastes.Decrease sweet, sour, and salty tastes.
