Featuring
Nicole Lane Frady dropped out of high school and left her hometown in Greenville, SC for Los Angeles. With no set direction of what to do, she turned to fashion and began having shoes manufactured in China, painting them, and selling them under the moniker Nikki Lane. It wasn't until five years after she arrived in Los Angeles that Nikki would begin to write music. Despite playing a couple shows to local acclaim, she stopped writing in exchange for a corporate job in New York City. After suffering from the loneliness brought along by big cities, Nikki quit her job and spent a solid three months learning the music of prolific country singers like Waylon Jennings and Loretta Lynn, using their music as inspiration to write her own. Within a month she had completed an album, and in 2009 she went to Nashville to record her self-released effort, No Room for Cowboys. Impressed by her spunky vocals and endearing personality, the independent label IAMSOUND offered her a deal and Nikki would soon spend her time split between writing and recording in Nashville and Los Angeles. Her 2011 debut release with the label was a four-song EP titled Gone, Gone, Gone, and the opening track of the same title serves as a farewell anthem to the South.
