Auburn Avenue Architectual Walking Tour

On this tour, we will walk through Auburn Avenue residential area and the Sweet Auburn commercial district in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Historic District and stop at various sites. During the tour, we will stop at buildings and learn about its architectural characteristics, any significance the building may be connected to additionally, we will learn about history that is connected to the location.

Additionally, participants will have time for an architectural sketch at each site! You will be provided with the appropriate drawing tools and be able to take home your sketches! The tour is centered in what is known as the Old Fourth Ward.

***This tour is lead by a trained and practicing architect and landscape architect.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Cancelation Policy- We encourage anyone who signed up to attend another scheduled event, we will provide a rain check. For those travelling to Atlanta, you are refunded less a $5.00 per person cancellation fee when canceled at least 48 hours in advance. If the tour is cancelled due to weather you will receive a 100% refund.

Logistics- For each tour a designated tour launch pad will be listed, we will include information regarding parking, transit, and driving. Tours are generally, 2.5 hours and if longer, the time will be listed.

Gear- Water and will be provided and each tour has a stop at a local business for a refreshing or warming drink, bring anything you need to be comfortable during the ride. That includes additional foods and/ or drinks, sunglasses, sunscreen, clothing that is specific to the weather. Dress in a comfortable manner, athletic wear is not required. Finally, provide us with any necessary medical information in advance.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?Civil Bikes is all-ages tours and events, but there are age restrictions on certain events. Everyone, regardless of age, should carry a valid, government-issued ID with them. It is more important that individuals are able to ride a bicycle for bike events and will follow safety rules we will review the following at the beginning of any ride or event. Additionally, for any tours that will included alcohol, it will be notated and any participant must be 21 or over.
