Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter David Ryan Harris has been a part of the business since the late '80s. He has been known for challenging mainstream norms since his time as the lead vocalist of the rock group Follow For Now. Harris set out to work with other artists following the group's disbanding after releasing one album. He teamed up with the former vocalist of Arrested Development - Dionne Farris - on her debut album. This partnership with Farris continued until 1997 when he signed to Columbia records. His eponymous debut album dropped the same year. Despite being praised by critics, the album was virtually indistinguishable from Harris' previous work and failed to do well commercially. This prompted Harris to team up with drummer Kenny Creswell and bassist Johnny Colt to form the trio Brand New Immortals. Its six-track EP was a success and the trio signed with Elektra Records. Harris had to move on after Brand New Immortals' full-length album failed commercially and the trio broke-up in 2002. Since then, Harris has collaborated with artists like John Mayer, Santana and Better than Ezra, in addition to promoting his solo act.
