Originally hailing from the Mexico City, rapper Akil Ammar is one of the leading proponents of urban hip hop culture in Latin America. Ammar has toured extensively throughout Europe, the United States and Latin America and, in 2005, co-founded the taste-making hop label IndieGente. Born Jonathan Rojas, his stage name comes from a combination of the Arabic words meaning "builder" and "one who uses reason."
