Punches

Punches is a three-piece dance pop group based in Brooklyn. The trio uses old school house beats and combines them with the slick, somewhat cheesy guitars and drum beats of 1970s disco. At the core of Punches lies a musical partnership between twin brothers who go by the names Alan Astor and The Kid Robb. Both obviously have a natural proclivity toward producing dance pop that is highly reminiscent of years past. Punches music, however, is presented with a vague sense of winking irony that is ever so popular within the quirky, hipster dance pop scenes these days. Luckily, the band has the chops and enough sincerity to come off as genuine rather than simply playing up a shtick.
