It seems like every great metal band these days is coming out of Georgia. However, when the results are as striking as they are with Kylesa, there's no reason to complain. The band takes sludgy, psychedelic riffs and catchy melodies and puts them over a rhythm section featuring two drummers in order to make a heady mixture that aims for mind expansion as much as it does for headbanging rock. Since forming in 2001, the band has continually ripped apart genre boundaries and ventured further and further into avant-garde experimentation.
