As the DJ for the popular vintage-era hip-hop revivalist crew Jurassic 5, DJ Nu-Mark is one of the more well-known figures in the genre today. Nu-Mark's style, similar to Jurassic 5 as a whole, is that of old-school, retro vibes that pay homage to hip-hop's golden age of the 80s, before gangsta rap, street feuds and auto-tune became synonymous with the genre. His samples are often pulled from old soul and funk records, adding even more to the vintage feel. Nu-Mark is known to collaborate often in his solo work, both with other notable DJs such as Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow, and with guest MCs and vocalists. His debut solo release, Broken Sunlight, was released in 2011.
